Hi everyone. I haven't written anything here for some time- I had to finish my studies (I am MSc now finally, yupi!) and tidy up my portfolio.

And now it's here- freshdesign.dk has finally got a fresh and clean look. It looks just as I wanted it to look like. Navigation is clear (but at the same time quite catchy). I've made it as a one page folio with smooth movements across the page elements. The galleries for each of the project are made with Lightbox.

And this is how it looks like (but you actually have to go and see for yourself how it works):

Portfolio was updated. I have added some new works which I created in 2009 (and 2008):

A Friend Of Mine- small Australian design studio

Cited from AFOM's About page:
A Friend Of Mine Design Studio (AFOM) is a small, Melbourne based design practice which works with a range of clients small and large. Much care and thought is put into every project. AFOM has experience in brand identity, art direction, signage, shop fitting, interiors, posters, image creation, publication (most things design related), and has a strong passion for crafted and bespoke typography.

AFOM is run by Suzy Tuxen. Talented friends are called on to collaborate for specialty crafts or when things get busy.

Works by Norwegian designer- Robin Snasen Rengard.

Works for Godt Valg environmental campaign caught my biggest attention. Very good concept which is implemented perfectly. Each of the images communicate clear message with minimal effort- brilliant work!

Sisterface (Enrique Pastor and Juan Carlos Mesa) is a small studio which is based in Madrid/Shanghai. They work with various media; their projects include design and identity work for brands, music industry etc.

What I like in their style are the colourful, quite simple shapes which create the whole image. It is especially visible in two of their works created for the exhibition Simone de Beauvoir, which are presented below:

Branding brochure of Viacom presented below is created with a similar technique:

And this is a bonus image presenting a T-shirt made by Sisterface studio. Quite controversial, for some it may look horrible. What do you think about it?

Another great design from Poland- I think I will never get bored with it. Studio K is a small design agency created by a couple: Krzysztof Domaradzki and Eliza Domaradzka. Out of those two Krzysztof is the one responsible for the artistic part.

His style is unique and really it is hard to describe it with just a couple of words. The illustrations are so detailed, many of them were first drawn (by hand?) and then digitally coloured, tuned up and finished. The final effect is perfect, check yourself two examples of illustrations below.

Krzysztof Domaradzki presents very big talents as a web designer. I like especially the websites in black and white- three of them are presented below. If you click on any of them you will be redirected to the studiokxx's site with bigger images.

Mats Ottdal is a graphic designer from Oslo, Norway. He finished his bachelor degree in Communication Design in Melbourne, Australia. It looks to me that he's very good at what he is doing. He has created a clear and consistent style which is recognisable in most of his works. Illustrative style visible in the typography works, clear and very nice illustrations- perfect works. The portfolio itself is very neat and clear- perfectly fitting the style of the artist. My favourites are presented below but there is more in the portfolio.

1. Frisk- packaging and visual identity for drinking yoghurt. I'm looking up to the way Mats has approached this particular project- beautiful illustrations which are simple at the same time. I'm sure that all of the kids would like to drink yoghurt from such bottles, I would like to try it myself ;).

2. "Healthy hot chocolate on your mind"- this project is the good example how creativity and talent for illustration can create a perfect identity product. Citing the author:
"The brown palette indicates the different flavours of chocolate & also parts of the mind."
To create this work Mats Ottdal drew with hand the typography and then processed it in Photoshop and Illustrator.

3. I like how Mats has used the popular symbols and converted them to a neat vector illustration in the personal project presented above.

I found that his portfolio doesn't cover all of his works. For the full reference please visit his blog- you will find more of the interesting projects there.

Pawel Nolbert - hellocolor.com

Ok, after quite a long break it's time for promotion of Polish design- it's really nice to see that many of my Polish fellows are well known and respected designers.

Pawel Nolbert worked for many worldwide known clients including Citroen, Coca Cola, McDonald's, Unilever... The pieces of work that you can see on hellocolor.com give you clear vision of the skills and talent of Pawel. I would definitely observe his work and check out all the new works coming up.
