Hi everyone. I haven't written anything here for some time- I had to finish my studies (I am MSc now finally, yupi!) and tidy up my portfolio.

And now it's here- freshdesign.dk has finally got a fresh and clean look. It looks just as I wanted it to look like. Navigation is clear (but at the same time quite catchy). I've made it as a one page folio with smooth movements across the page elements. The galleries for each of the project are made with Lightbox.

And this is how it looks like (but you actually have to go and see for yourself how it works):

Portfolio was updated. I have added some new works which I created in 2009 (and 2008):

Promotion of young talents is important, especially if the talent is exceptionally good. Adam Koniuszewski is a Polish graphic designer and illustrator who is living and working in UK. He is available for freelancing, long-term contracts and full time hire so you might get a chance of getting him to work for you. I have selected 3 works which well present his style.

1. Poster design- "Come find yourself"
Imaginary Design- talented young illustrator from Poland

2. Poster design- "Love can damage your health" // it can but doesn't necessarily have to ;-)

Sisterface (Enrique Pastor and Juan Carlos Mesa) is a small studio which is based in Madrid/Shanghai. They work with various media; their projects include design and identity work for brands, music industry etc.

What I like in their style are the colourful, quite simple shapes which create the whole image. It is especially visible in two of their works created for the exhibition Simone de Beauvoir, which are presented below:

Branding brochure of Viacom presented below is created with a similar technique:

And this is a bonus image presenting a T-shirt made by Sisterface studio. Quite controversial, for some it may look horrible. What do you think about it?

Sicksystems is a design studio from Moscow, Russia. The agency is formed by 3 talented guys: Aske, Kio and Kola (I love their nicknames :)) They started as graffiti artists some years ago and actually this influence is quite visible in most of their works. Now they are working with various media and in many design areas. They are very careful about the geometrical forms and shapes as well as the graffiti-like typography.

In the portfolio there are plenty of good works: advertising commercials and posters, clothing (T-shirts, accessories), snowboards, logotypes. Plenty of good stuff- below I present just a few examples of their works. Enjoy!

Julien Vallee is a young designer from Montreal, Canada (currently living and working in Berlin, Germany). His works contain some characteristic features- many of them are the result of combination of crafts, collage and computer graphics. Julien said: "I like to use manual art well endorsed by the various technological tools available in order to make the bridge between manual and virtual art." When looking at his works it's quite clear that he makes it good.

And here you have the "making of":

Emil Kozak was born in Denmark and started working on his design skills there. He moved a few years ago to Barcelona, Spain to continue a career of designer.

Emil started to work with graphics inspired by the skateboard art. He developed his style making the detailed, clean illustrations with just a few colours. In his portfolio you would find many neat illustrations printed on skateboards and surfboards, designs of T-shirts and logos. Below I would like to present some of Emil's works- skateboards and the designs of lampshades created for special exhibition.

Teis Albers is a young designer from Netherlands. He has developed a fantastic technique of collage, joining the photos with different elements and layers of colours. Some of the works look really fresh and original- I would like to present just a few of them here (the names are not original- made up by me ;)):

toko.nu Apparat poster

Toko- design studio from Australia

toko.nu- fonts, experiments

typography experiments on poster

Toko is a design studio established in Rotterdam in 2001, but now operating in Sydney (from 2006). Toko concentrates mostly on the print design- book & magazine design, identity, posters etc. If you visit the portfolio you would quickly realize that there is a very big emphasis put on the importance of typography.

Many of the prints are very original because of the experiments made on the typefaces. In this way the works fulfil the most significant role- they really stand out from the crowd.

Neil Duerden is a designer based in UK, living near Manchester. In his portfolio in the "advertising" folder you can find plenty of beautiful works related to advertising campaigns of well-companies: Nokia, Toyota, Coca Cola, Land Rover. The latter is presented below:

Land Rover- advertising work by Neil Duerden

I think it's the first billboard presenting dishwash that I really like:

The illustrations by Neil Duerden are filled with amazing complex vector lines and elements. The combination of photography and the graphics is perfect- the works look natural and lively.

I've found the works that you can see above extremely interesting so I decided to write a couple of lines about him. Radim has had his works published in books, magazines, posters, CDs' and DVDs' covers. His techniques combine layers of photography with colourful elements.

Alberto Seveso is an Italian designer who has developed his own style of combining photography with vector illustrations with lots of colours and shapes. Bodies of the models are covered with the combinations of stripes, dots etc.

Original style, fresh concepts combining the photography with illustrations- amazing stuff.

Alberto's portfolio consists of the works made in this technique. And there are actually many of those there, try it out.

If you're interested you can also read the interview with Alberto Seveso here. He is explaining a little bit about his career in design, the inspirations, story behind "sperm shaping" (that's how he refers to the style he created).

Nik Ainley - ShinyBinary.com

Nicholas Ainley is a UK-based designer specialising in caring-for-details illustrations and graphics.

Nik Ainley's portfolio (shinybinary.com) is full of the really nice works. There is plenty more than what is presented above. Some are quite scary, for example the image presenting melted elderly woman's face.. Brrr, it's too horrifying and real to be put on my blog. ;)

Overall, the works are enjoyable. However, the website itself looks quite old fashioned and there is a big need for making it more pleasant for the viewers- I think Nik could get even more interest from people then if it looked more fancy. The other thing is that his portfolio looks to be quite popular- Nicholas is boasting of hundreds of thousands visitors. Congratulations, Mr Ainley and I look forward to seeing more cool works there.

I found Cristiano Siqueira by chance. I was looking into using the 3D models into standard 2D illustrations and images. Then I just stumbled upon the image that you can see at the top. I was amazed and that is why I had to save Cristiano's portfolio in my bookmarks. Today I looked at it again and decided that his works are worth showing in my blog.

Many of works of Mr Siqueira are very comic-like- it seems very true and justified since this is how it all started for him. Cristiano (born in Sao Paulo, Brazil) started by redrawing comic books. Then he sunk deep into the world of design and illustration. He gained experience in professional work and he is working independently in his own studio.

Undoubtedly Cristiano Siqueira has developed his own style, visible especially in the illustrations and images of 3D models.

Another Polish designer, I won't count how many of them already got their own post in my blog. Is it my fault that they create amazing works and that they are popular in the designers' world? I hope you will agree with me that the works presented above are worth looking at and presenting here in my decent blastyle blog.

Vivid colours, amazing shapes and lines and care for details- in short about his style.

In his portfolio you can find advertising and branding works that he made for international companies. He did many works for Nokia and Nike, but other companies and organisations include Fanta, Unicef, Oakley, British Airways. He also designed a some music album covers (in portfolio you can find the cover for the album of Polish hip-hop artist, Pezet).

Peter Jaworowski works currently in Ars Thanea, creative studio based in Warsaw.

Ok, after quite a long break it's time for promotion of Polish design- it's really nice to see that many of my Polish fellows are well known and respected designers.

Pawel Nolbert worked for many worldwide known clients including Citroen, Coca Cola, McDonald's, Unilever... The pieces of work that you can see on hellocolor.com give you clear vision of the skills and talent of Pawel. I would definitely observe his work and check out all the new works coming up.

Emmanuel Prissette - dysplasii.com

Two works that you can see above presented on dysplasii.com really amazed me- that's why I decided to present them here. Let's say that it's also a kind of promotion for Emmanuel- he is looking for a job as a designer, maybe you need someone with this profile?

The overall look of portfolio of Emmanuel Prissette doesn't appeal to me- the website is built on ancient html frames and it all looks not that attractive, probably it was done very quickly only for the purpose of presenting the works somewhere. Anyway, it's worth looking at some of his works.

I wouldn't even realize that if Mikis didn't tell me that himself. Now it's time for you Michael and a couple of your works. In the previous post I just edited text and put Alex Trochute's name. Enjoy the works of Mikis on his portfolio mikisraoul.com

Erik Natzke - jot.eriknatzke.com

Erik Natzke keeps amazing me while I browsed through his collection of works in his portfolio. Every work aims to attract and suprise the viewer- his playing with shapes, colours, combinations of different patterns in every single piece of his work are just incredibly good.

The techniques Erik Natzke is using are also quite original. He is playing with the photos using Flash with Actionscript generating the deformations and patterns. You could see how transformed the original scene is in the two pictures below: (1) is the image Erik Natzke was playing with and (2) is the final result.

What I find really astonishing about this artist is the combination of extremely powerful abstract colourful world with the style that is recognizable after first look on the work. "This is Edvard Scott", after you see his works you can actually feel it seeing something new made by him.

Amazing imagination of this talented illustrator / designer has been appreciated by many major companies including Nokia, L' Oreal, Mini Cooper, K-SWISS.
